Dimapur, June 14 (EMN): Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, has awarded national recognition commendation to the Nagaland State Cooperative Bank (NStCB) for outstanding performance in SHG bank linkage during 2018-19.

The commendation award was received by AK Deb, NStCB general manager, on June 11 in New Delhi from Sanjeev Kumar, Additional Secretary and Financial Advisor, Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India.

Progress on the working of the bank vis-a-vis SHG bank linkage under National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM)- a flag ship programme of the Government of India, was deliberated upon by the senior executives of the bank namely Kekhwengulo Lea, vice chairman of the bank, and Rajuselie Lhousa, programme manager (FI) of NRSLM, on June 13 in its headquarters.

Bendangnungsang, general manager (credit & recovery), while highlighting the SHGs saving and credit linkages programme of the bank, informed that of the  6500 saving linkages more than 4000 SHGs had credit linkages with amount surpassing INR 65.00 crore as on March 31, 2019. He reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to alleviate poverty and economic sustenance of the rural masses with special focus on women SHGs under NSRLM.

Rajuselie Lhousa lauded the bank for its initiative in elevating the rural economy of the State by extending financial assistance to women SHGs in large number and expressed belief that the bank would continue to nurture and support the SHGs under NSRLM.

Kekhwengulo Lea expressed happiness on the working of the bank. He called upon the employees to continue in the spirit of cooperative development and to take the bank to a new height. He said the robust financial health of the bank is necessary to carry forward the development of the rural economy of the State.

AK Deb highlighted his interaction with the officials of Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, in New Delhi.
