Dimapur, Jan. 27 (EMN): While lauding Nagaland Lokayukta for according prosecution sanction to its police to charge sheet a senior IAS officer over her alleged involvement in illegal appointment while serving in the Tourism department, the Naga People’s Front (NPF) has urged the anti-corruption Ombudsman to apply “the same yardstick against all the other erring officers”.

In a statement issued by its Press Bureau, the party said that the people are optimistic that the Lokayukta will curb corruption and deliver justice, and not succumb to any political pressure. “The public expects that the Lokayukta will do away with all the other pending cases fairly acceptable and not to surrender under any political motive pressure and pick and choose particular cases but deliver justice to all the pending cases,” read the statement.

It may be mentioned that Lokayukta of Nagaland Justice Uma Nath Singh accorded ‘Prosecution Sanction under Section 26 of the Nagaland Lokayukta Act, 2017’ against senior IAS officer Angau I Thou last week for her alleged ‘involvement in the illegal back-dated appointment of tourist officers and tourist assistants while serving in the Tourism department’.
