Dimapur, Jan. 30 (EMN): Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee’s (NPCC) president K Therie on Wednesday welcomed the decision of the state’s Cabinet to oppose and reject the controversial Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) of 2016.

However, Therie expressed his fear that the government’s move “will perhaps end in a ‘too little too late’ situation” as the bill has been passed in the Lok Sabha. Asking what the state government would do now to withdraw its support now, he said “it appears they have failed to do their homework.”

“Such a flip-flop stand of the PDA government has clearly exhibited that they cannot be trusted with the future of the people and it will not be beyond them to have changed their stand through mere lip service while pursuing to please their BJP-driven agenda,” said Therie.

He went on to say that the allies of the BJP in the state should “disassociate” itself from the party if they sincerely oppose the bill.
