Novel coronavirus preparedness training held in Nagaland’s Mokokchung district

Dimapur, March 18 (EMN): A training programme on the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) preparedness is underway in the  Conference Hall of the Chief Medical Office, Mokokchung, for all SMOs, MOs, medical officers  of private practitioners, DPM, BPM, DCM,CHOs, ASHA coordinators, GNMs, ANMs and health workers to create awareness and take preventive measures against the virus.

An update from the district programme management unit of NRHM, Mokokchung, informed that the awareness programme, which would done batch-wise, started on March 18 and would end on the 18th.

Delivering the keynote address, CMO Dr. R Chubala Aier stressed on the need to have preparedness and response plan in the district, while the deputy CMO, Dr. Kibangkumba ,spoke on creating mass awareness through Church platforms in Nagaland.

The speakers of the training were Dr. Aonungdok, MO; Dr. Kilangwabang, medicine specialist; Dr. Tsipongchem, pathologist; Dr. Tiasunep, DVBO; and Dr. Akumtemjen, epidemiologist IDSP, informed the update.

The participants of the programme were trained on clinical case management, infection prevention and control, laboratory surveillance, environmental cleaning and disinfection, risk assessment, community surveillance, information and management, non clinical interventions for Covid-19, SARI surveillance, travel restrictions, wash and bio medical waste management (BMWM), epidemiology etc.
