Imphal, Feb. 6 (EMN):
The second edition of the North East Multi-Media campaign 2019-20, to combat HIV and Aids in the region was held with the theme “North East United Against HIV and AIDS” in Imphal on Thursday.

To reach out to youths and the affected people, a musical concert was held at the Bhagyachandra Open Air Theatre.

About 25 participants from across the NE states participated. Each band performed one original song on HIV/Aids.

The campaign is being organised by the North Eastern States in collaboration with National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) since 2009, to spread awareness and support the people living with HIV and Aids.

Speaking at the programme, Joint Director (Targeted Intervention) Abhiram Mongjam of the Manipur AIDS Control Society said the campaign is a unique programme in the Northeast.

“Through music we are trying to reach the young people to understand how HIV/Aids can be prevented through music.”
