The 11th Music Awards of Nagaland (MAN) 2019 presented by the Native Trax Society (NTS) has invited nominations to the 11th edition of the award, which is scheduled to be held on Nov. 8 at the Regional Centre of Excellence for Music & Performing Arts at Jotsoma in Kohima.

This was announced by the members of the NTS during a press conference that was conducted on Aug. 14 at The Shack Restaurant in Dimapur.

The NTS informed that this year’s music awards will be supported for the first time by the government’s Task Force for Music and Arts.

The NTS has introduced a new category award for ‘best cover song’ for the 11th edition of MAN. This category was introduced considering that 80% of the songs that Naga musicians make are cover songs and some of which are outstanding and worthy to be recognised, Imli Lee, one of the members, said.

The society has also resumed the cash award of INR 10,000 for this year’s edition and entry fee of INR 500. The entry fee has been introduced for the first time taking into account where some individuals submit just for the sake of getting an entry although their music are not refined.

Artists, recording studios, producers or their respective representatives are invited to submit entries. Original compositions recorded within Nagaland and released anytime after Nov. 1, 2018 are eligible for the consideration and entry.

The awards will be for 18 categories in total. All the entries are to be submitted either by email to musicnagaland@gmail.com or through WhatsApp at 9089409715. Entries can also be submitted in person at the office of the NTS, located at NST colony in Dimapur.

The members informed that each entry must include- a signed and filled up entry form; an audio song/music video (or the audio/video link); lyrics which is entries for Hindi/local dialect should include an English translation; and artist/band profile with a photograph.

The deadline for submission of entries is Sep. 21 while for queries regarding the awards or entry conditions one can contact the following numbers: 9856201694/ 8014263251/ 7005251186.

MAN was instituted in 2009 by the NTS honouring local music makers each year for their artistry and originality by rewarding excellence in music of different genres. Over the last seven years the MAN has been the launching pad for many truly remarkable home-grown talents and it has showcased musicians as well as those involved behind the scenes in the state music industry helping them win recognition and fame, maintained the members of NTS.
