NNC (PD) affirms on sovereignty

Dimapur, March 13 (EMN): Naga National Council (NNC), parent body, has reaffirmed the historical and political rights of the Nagas as submitted through a memorandum to the British India of Simon Commission in 1929; the Naga declaration of August 14, 1947; and the Plebiscite of May 16, 1951, till it achieve its sovereignty.

The reaffirmation to this effect was taken during its general meeting on March 7 at Oking. It also adopted some important resolutions in the interest of Naga people and its future after thorough deliberations.

A statement issued by NNC information and publicity wing stated that the house resolved to reject any other agreement or accord such as Article 371(A) and 16th Point Agreement apart from the historical and political rights of the Naga people’s sacrificial blood and tears.

The house also resolved to have alliance with those political group or groups, who stood for the Naga historical and political rights of the Naga people’s freedom of sovereignty.

It added that those important resolutions were adopted in the larger interest of the Naga people as a whole.
