Dimapur, Aug. 22 (EMN): The Niuland Area Citizen Forum (NACF) has appealed to the authorities to address the ‘poor condition’ of the road between the 4th Mile junction to Niuland town in Dimapur.

The forum issued a statement to the media on Thursday.

The press release read: “The road stretch from 4th Mile Bridge to Niuland has almost become unmotorable due to negligence for many years together. This particular road connects many villages under Ghaspani-2 and Ghaspani-1 assembly constituency and it is also used by Ralan area commuters and on emergency road diversion, the road is used as a bypass from Dimapur to Kohima via Zadima.”

“The roads here are in terrible conditions due to negligence for many years. The potholes on the road are a major cause of concern. Not only do they slow down the traffic but also cause several accidents causing human tragedies economic losses to the common people and have become breeding ground for mosquitoes as they are perpetually filled with water.”

The organisation said Niuland being an additional deputy commissioner establishment, it has many government offices and educational institutions. The staff members travel between Dimapur and Niuland area daily, the note stated.

‘Considering this life line road of many villages and alternate road for other districts connectivity, Niuland Area Citizen Forum urges the concern department or ministry to look into the issue and take concrete measures at the earliest,’ the forum added.
