Dimapur, Sep. 15 (EMN): The Nagaland Indigenous People’s Forum (NIPF), which is the state’s unit of North East Indigenous People’s Forum (NEIPF), has backed the government’s move to introduce RIIN and expand ILP coverage to all the districts.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the forum maintained the RIIN “is a must to have a clean populace in our land”. On the other hand, it stated, the influx of illegal migrants is quite alarming and “a threat” to the indigenous people of Nagaland.

“For which all the existing ILP check points in the state needs to be further strengthened and implementation of the ILP (BEFR Act, 1873), especially in Dimapur, as well as other entry points throughout the state be enforced at the earliest,” read the statement.

The forum urged the state government to implement ILP and RIIN at the earliest in letter and spirit “in the interest and protection” of the people of the Nagaland.
