Neizo Belho wins Sekrenyi Open Air Rifle Competition

Kohima, Feb. 19 (EMN): Neizo Belho emerged champion of the third edition of Open Sekhrenyi Air Rifle Shooting Competition organised by Kohima Air Rifle Club and T Khel Peli Union at Tsütuonuomia (T) Khel in Kohima village on Wednesday.   

Belho who secured 33 points by overcoming seven other finalists after the preliminary rounds walked home richer with INR 7,000 as the champion.

Mesekhrietuo Khezhie bagged the second position title (29 points) and received INR 5,000 while Menuobeilie Yiese (27 points) stood in third position and received INR 3,000.

During the initial rounds of the game, each participant fired ten trial shots while in the final round, five record shots were allotted.

Field judge Kouliebeizo Mepfhüo handed over certificates and cash awards to the winners after the competition.

Meanwhile, a combined competition between the organising committee members and media persons was also organised.

In the competition, Thepfuhoulie Belho, Aty Sekhose and Visasielie Suohu bagged the first, second and third position respectively.

“Inter Peli air rifle competition” was also held amongst the shooters from the four clans of Kohima village. However, the names of the winners will be announced and prizes will be given during the later part of Sekrenyi.

Earlier, attending the inaugural function as the special guest, Mezhüo Solo, former director of Soil and Water Conservation department urged the sportsmen to opt for games which could best suit them according to their physical prowess and ability.

He said air rifle shooting is such a game where Nagas could fit in and proceed far if shooters could dedicate and totally commit themselves to the game.
