Kohima, Oct. 9 (EMN): Restoration work along the National Highway-29 at the old KMC dumping site has been continuing since October 6 to facilitate vehicular movement but there is no respite in sight for the commuters as the fresh cut along the stretch of the road further sank to about 30 feet on Wednesday morning.

Despite the Nagaland Public Works Department’s (National Highway) effort to restore the road at the earliest, the 45-metre stretch of road, which sank about 12 feet following heavy rains on October 6 and the 7th, further sank by 18 feet on Wednesday, according to an SDO of PWD (NH).

A fresh cut was initiated on October 9 after a few hours of negotiation between the landowners and the district administration led by the ADC, a source informed Eastern Mirror.

This is the third time that the NH-29 at KMC old dumping site has been affected this year due to heavy rainfall.
