Nagaland’s U-23 and senior teams face defeat

Dimapur, Nov. 12 (EMN): Nagaland went down fighting against Pondicherry in men’s U-23 One Day Trophy 2019-20 played at Bhubneshwar, Odisha on November 12.

According to an update from Nagaland Cricket Association (NCA), Pondicherry elected to bat first after winning the toss and put up a total of 245 runs for loss of eight wickets in the stipulated 50 overs. Akash smashed a century (100 runs) and Sai Karthik contributed 37 runs for Pondicherry, while Nagaland’s attack was led by Joshua with five wickets.

Chasing a total of 245, Nagaland were bowled out for 214 runs in 47.5 overs.  Pondicherry won the match by 31 runs.

Joshua (57 runs) and Vivek (35 runs) were the main contributors for Nagaland while Santhosh, Abhijeet and Gurvinder took two wickets apiece for Pondicherry.

Mens Senior Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy
In a separate update, the NCA has informed that Nagaland lost to Gujarat by 99 runs in the men’s senior Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy 2019-20 played at Lalbhai contractor stadiun, Surat, Gujarat on Tuesday.

Nagaland elected to field after winning the toss. Gujarat put up a huge total 199 runs for loss of six wickets in 20 overs with Chirag scoring 52 runs, Ripalbhai- 41 runs and Parthiv Patel- 37 runs. Imliwati took three wickets for Nagaland while Stuart Binny and Tahmeed took a wicket each.

Needing 101 runs to win the match, Nagaland managed to make only 100 runs for loss of seven wickets in 20 overs. Hokaito and Aosashi scored 55 runs and 13 runs respectively for the team. Rush Kalaria and Jayveersinh took took two wickets each for Gujarat.
