Nagaland’s projected population for 2020 is more than 22 lakh

The annual administrative report of the Nagaland Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) for 2019-20 reports that the projected total population of Nagaland for 2020  is 22, 84,226 (11,83,007 males and 11,01,219 females). This was in accordance with the revision of photo electoral roll with reference to Jan. 1 2020. 

According to the report, Dimapur has the highest projected population with 4,38,273 (2,28,391 males and 2,09,882 females) while Pughoboto in Zunheboto district has the least population with 19, 521 (9,741 males and 9,780 females).

As for electors, as per the report, there were 11, 93, 507 with 5,99,430 males and 5,94,077 females.

As approved by the Election Commission of India, there has been an increase in the number of polling stations from 2,196 to 2,227 as a result of rationalisation of polling stations, it stated. According to the report 2,227 booth level officers and 189 booth level officers and supervisors for 2,227 polling stations were appointed in the state.

Among the appointed booth level officers, teachers formed the highest with 1,755. Out of the 2,227 officials, only 468 were ‘others’ and four Anganwadi workers.
