Dimapur, Sep. 17 (EMN): The Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency (NBDA) will be collaborating with Taiwan in order to promote bamboo through resource and enterprise development, a press release from the mission director of NBDA, Imtirenla Jamir informed on Tuesday.

NBDA has been assisting the livelihood of farmers by empowering them and skilling of artisans and capacity building of entrepreneurs, it stated.

“The journey so far has been positive and now the agency (NBDA) is actively looking at diversifying bamboo products and increasing the output on a global scale,” read the statement.

NBDA will join hands with Taiwan for “technology transfer and capacity building and develop an India-Taiwan Bamboo Technical Centre in India through this cooperation,” it stated.

NBDA is committed to promote bamboo to achieve the UN’s sustainable development goals with bamboo as key tool for change, it informed, and added that the agency is working towards promoting bamboo products as alternatives to single-use plastics.

The agency aims to work with organisations that want to promote bamboo as a sustainable resource such as the United Nations (UN), the International Bamboo and Rattan Organisation (INBAR), World Bamboo Organisation (WBO), NGOs and other international, national and local organisations, it informed.

On the occasion of the 10th World Bamboo Day, which falls on September 18, the NBDA will conduct a plantation drive at the Nagaland Bamboo Resource Centre in Dimapur and also release its official magazine.
