Dimapur, Sep. 10 (EMN): The state’s department of Power has requested consumers in nine towns—Chumoukedima, Dimapur, Kohima, Mokokchung, Mon, Phek, Tuensang, Wokha and Zunheboto—to cooperate with a team of the department’s personnel who will be conducting an extensive validation drive.

A press statement from the department on Tuesday informed that the under the Restructured Accelerated Power Development and Reforms Programme (R-APDRP) scheme, the IT billing system has been launched in those nine towns.

But due to some shortcomings at the initial stage of introduction of the new system, the department has been receiving complaints from consumers of not receiving bills or even ‘abnormal bills,’ it stated.

“To rectify the lapses, the department has already launched an extensive validation/spot verification exercise for identification and correct tagging of all electricity consumers to the respective transformers and poles. This process is targeted to be completed by end of November 2019.

“A team of authorised department personnel will be visiting the consumer premises to collect all mandatory details of connections. Department solicits cooperation from the esteemed consumers/house owners to make this exercise a success,” it stated.

Also, it requested all consumers receiving computerised bills including that of the Spot Billing Machine (SBNI) bills to insist on signing the counter foil of the bills received to ensure authentication of actual bill delivery and accurate billing.

For any constructive advice, suggestion or corrective measure, the department informed that citizens can email it at cepower1helpdesk@gmail.com.
