DIMAPUR — The second edition of the Nagaland Photography Festival 2023, organised by Photography Club Dimapur (PCD), is set to be celebrated on September 22 and 23.
The festival will be held at Mandeville Gardens, Dimapur, with the theme ‘The Power of Image’.
Addressing a press conference on Wednesday at Peres Café in Dimapur, the president of PCD, Letminthang Kipgen, stated that the festival aims to showcase the rich culture, heritage, natural beauty, and artistic talent of Nagaland through the medium of photography.
He believes that the festival will bring together photographers, artists, enthusiasts, and visitors from across the region, fostering creativity exchange and promoting the diverse photography community in Nagaland through various exhibitions, panel discussions, and interactive sessions.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]The festival, most importantly, seeks to encourage artistic expression, inspire young talent, and stimulate cultural dialogue.
A member of PCD, Mongsen Phom, shared that they took the initiative because they wanted to promote Nagaland and bring the state into the world of photography.
In the later stages of the festival, they want to go national and international and also bring in international photographers, which will also promote the tourism sector in the state, he said.
He added that through the festival, they also want to encourage youngsters to take up photography as a profession. Further, he said that they also want to set up a proper photography institute, though it is still in the planning stage.
The members informed that the festival is not only for photographers but for everyone, including entrepreneurs, and that it is going to be a family-friendly event. They are also expecting all the national camera companies to participate in it.
As a family-friendly festival, they have instructed stall owners not to sell alcohol, tobacco, or locally brewed wine.
While the activities of the second edition will be the same as the first, with music, cosplay, stalls, and other activities, this year there will also be workshops on wildlife, and more interaction sessions, among others.
The entry fee will be INR 100 for adults and INR 50 for children.
They appreciated well-wishers and entrepreneurs for supporting them and making the first festival successful, and they are hoping that this edition will also be successful.
