NLA Committee on Petition meeting

Dimapur, July 13 (EMN): Chairman of the Committee on Petition, K Konngam Konyak, MLA, has convened an introductory meeting of the committee on July 20 at 11 am in the Committee Room, Nagaland Legislative Assembly Secretariat.

All members of the Committee on Petition (2023-2024) have been requested to attend the meeting, an official update stated.

AR Wokha notifies on firing practice

The 40th Assam Rifles stationed in Wokha has announced the commencement of firing test and practice at the Assam Rifles firing range (New Land), Wokha.

The practice sessions will take place from July 15 to the 31st, an official update stated. All adjoining colonies and villages within the 40th Assam Rifles firing range area have been requested to ensure their distance from the firing zone.

“This precautionary measure is essential to prevent any potential harm to human lives, livestock, and property,” it stated.

MBCA against Uniform Civil Code

The Mao Baptist Churches Association (MBCA) has conveyed resentment against the proposed Uniform Civil Code (UCC) Bill in India, stating that it will infringe on the fundamental right concerning religion, and tribal customs and practices. 

“The tribal customs and religion of the Mao Naga tribe are inseparable. The MBCA appeals the government of India to safeguard the interest of the people while implementing the law,” the association stated in a press release.

It also affirmed that tribal communities should be exempted from the proposed UCC.

Longleng citizens cautioned on rising theft cases

Following an increase in theft cases within Longleng town and nearby areas, the authorities have issued a warning to the citizens to exercise caution and vigilance when purchasing items from unfamiliar shops or unknown individuals. Citizens have been informed to report promptly to the police any suspicious activity, an official bulletin stated. “Individuals deliberately involved in the purchase, sale, or disposal of stolen items will face legal consequences under Section 411 of the Indian Penal Code 1860, including potential imprisonment of up to three years, fines, or both,” it added.

Wokha DPDB meeting on July 18

Deputy Commissioner and vice chairman DPDB Wokha, Ajit Kumar Ranjan, has in a notification informed all board members that the monthly District Planning & Development Board meeting for July will be held on July 18 at the DC conference hall at 11am.

All the members have been requested to attend the meeting positively.

Online registration for JNV Longleng

The Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Longleng, has issued a notification on the online registration process for admission to Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) for the academic session 2024-2025, specifically for class VI.

According to a DIPR report, the selection test will be conducted on November 4, 2023 and January 20, 2024.

Prospective candidates who wish to apply for admission have been advised to visit the official website http://navodaya.gov.in/ to download the application form and complete the registration process. The deadline for submitting applications is August 10, 2023.
