Nagaland: Charity concert in Kohima collects INR 2,91,419
The concert was held in aid of 11-year-old Loktinula Longchar who is suffering from Leukaemia.
It was nothing less than a message of love and humanity when friends, school mates, loved ones and well-wishers came together to aid an 11-year-old Loktinula Longchar’s treatment, who is suffering from Leukaemia since last December.
A total of INR 2,91,419 was collected out of a ‘musical nite’ and was handed over to her family members.
The event was initiated by her friends and the Spectrum Institute of Academic and Life Skill Development Society (SIALSDS), at Molu Ki, Merhülietsa Colony in Kohima on July 11.
The little girl is a class five student of St. John School, Kohima and a resident of Merhülietsa Colony. It was informed that her father worked as a fourth grade staff at PWD department in Kohima.
Presently she is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Guwahati and is said to be recovering.
‘In this moment of her recovery, we want to do something’ said Ajit John, General Secretary of SIALSDS.
‘It’s not just the society and friends but a team work of all people. It’s a wholehearted contribution and effort of all,’ John added. ‘There may be hundreds of people suffering from similar disease and it’s our prayer that will stand with them and heal them,’ he said.
‘It was hard to see her parents unable to bear the huge expense of her treatment and we felt the need to do something’ observed Bendangmeren Longkumer, convenor of the programme.
One of the donors, a little girl (stranger to the patient) had donated her charity box for Longchar’s treatment. The girl was said to be ‘very conscious’ about the treatment and had willingly donated the amount, Longkumer said.
Nzanthung, one of the singer at the event shared that he do not see any reason why he should not be performing for her, because he lost his father a few years back who suffered from Leukaemia for five years.
Various artists, schoolmates, Sunday school mates, colony members and well wishers came forward and participated at the musical nite.
