Dimapur, Aug. 21 (EMN):
The Naga People’s Front (NPF) on Wednesday asserted that the party would extent full cooperation for any peaceful and amicable settlement to the vexed Naga political problem.

The party stated through a press communiqué that a delegation of its leaders led by secretary general KG Kenye called on the newly appointed governor of Nagaland, RN Ravi at the Raj Bhavan to congratulate and welcome him on his new assignment. It also appreciated the Centre for appointing him as the head of the state as he is well-versed with the Naga people, having worked closely on the Naga political issue for many years as India’s interlocutor for Indo-Naga talks.

“The NPF party expressed the hope to the Governor that under his able initiative, an amicable and acceptable solution to the Naga political problem will arrive soon,” read the statement. It added that “the dual charge of Ravi as interlocutor and the Governor should not contradict and hamper the ongoing political dialogue but should facilitate more in expediting in bringing the solution at the earliest.”

While briefing the Governor that the party had paved the way for a peaceful solution on a couple of occasions in the past, the delegation reiterated the party’s stand on the Naga political problem as the top most priority and that it is “ready to pave way for any new arrangement for the welfare of the Naga people.”

The statement from the party said that Ravi ‘assured the delegation of his full support to the cry and desire of the Naga people.’
