Dimapur, Aug. 13 (EMN): The 5th Bangalore Open MMA Championships was held at Whitefield Forum Neighbourhood Mall in Bengaluru from August 9 to 11th in which more than 300+ contestants registered, an update received here on Tuesday stated.

Longtsukumba Ao, Arsenba Ozukum and Avizo Lanamai Liegise training out of The Combat Academy- Nagaland, represented Nagaland. Avizo won his quarter and semi-final bouts by way of knockout but came up short in the final by way of points in the U-18 below 65kgs division and won a silver medal for the state. Arsenba won his round of 16 bout by way of knockout; he won his quarter-final bout via split decision in the flyweight (56.2kgs) division.

Longtsukumba got a bye in the round of 16 and won his quarter-final bout via technical knockout in the featherweight (65.8kgs) division. Unfortunately both athletes injured their wrists during their winning performances and hence Khriemelie Metha, their coach, had to withdraw them from the tournament in concern of aggravating their condition.
