Mon board approves projects for LADP 2019-20

Dimapur, Sep. 17 (EMN):
The Mon administration has approved a number of Local Area Development Programme (LADP) projects for 2019-20.

The government publicity agency the department of Information and Public Relations (IPR) gave updates on Tuesday informing about a meeting of Mon’s District Panning and Development Board (DPDB).

The board conducted a meeting for the month of September on Sep. 16 in the deputy commissioner’s office. Member of legislative assembly N Thongwang Konyak was also in the meeting.

During the meeting, the house approved projects of the LADP for 2019-20 for Mon district, the IPR stated.

During the meeting N Thongwang Konyak highlighted that the projects of the LADP have to be undertaken without duplication from an existing project, the IPR stated.

In other matters, the board approved and recommended to the government registration of the Baptist School at Yuching village, and Island Club of Tangnyu village.

Area Operations Manager Sumit Banerjee gave a presentation on behalf of India Post Payment Bank, Mon branch. He said that the India Post Payment Bank was set up as a public sector bank under the department of Post with 100 percent equity owned by the government of India.

The vision of the India Post Payment Bank is to build the ‘most accessible, affordable and trusted bank for the common man offering accessibility, affordability, ease of banking, digital ecosystem and financial literacy,’ the IPR stated.

Further, Banerjee highlighted some of the IPPB’s product offerings such as deposit, money transfer, direct benefit transfers, third party products, bill and utility payments enterprise and merchant payments, the IPR stated.

In other matters, the board felicitated Shongmeth M Konyak, a class-9 student of Sacred Heart School of Mon for winning the first position in the state science seminar, which was held in Mokokchung.

Further, badminton players from the district namely Unice, Yaom and Leihong—no surnames given in the IPR’s report—were felicitated by the board for winning various tournaments in the state and national arena.

Further, a brief presentation about the Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme was presented by Dr. Tinelo J Katiwa, district tuberculosis officer for Mon. The IPR stated that he highlighted the activities of the programme taking place in the district.

District Transport Officer Arenbo Peter also presented a report of the various activities of the department with emphasis on the vehicle applications Vahan 4.0 and Sarathi 4.0. The officer was stated to have informed the board members that the Sarathi was for issuing driving licenses for applicants, conductors’ licenses and driving school licenses. The Vahan is for issuing registration certificates for all types of vehicles, the officer said.

The IPR also reported that the additional deputy commissioner of Mon, Hiazu Meru, suggested to the board to start banning single-use plastic bottles in the district. Likewise, he requested the members to initiate proper solid waste management in the offices, the IPR added.
