Mokokchung, Aug. 13 (EMN): The 46th “installation ceremony” of Rotary Club at Mokokchung district was conducted on August 13 in Mokokchung.

The oath-taking was administered by Sanjay Jain, assistant governor of the group’s zone IX. The new members are led by Allan Mark Longkumer as president and Bendangyapang as secretary.

Jain told the members that this year the organisation will focus on members, public relation, rotary foundation, literacy and other activities. He urged the president of the club to induct more members and further appealed the Rotary members to fulfil this year’s Rotary International theme, “Connect the world,” in every project they undertake.

Further, he said that the district conference was scheduled to be conducted during April 3-5 at Shillong in Meghalaya. He invited the club’s members to be part of the conference.

Again, Jain informed the members that a sanitary napkin Incinerator and vending machines will be installing in a number of schools and institutions as part of the group’s district plan for 2019-20.

In this regard, he said the Rotary Club of Mokokchung was eligible to have said machines in four schools. He requested the club to identify schools and institutions to avail the project from the district plan.

The group’s assistant governor congratulated the outgoing team for their encouraging activities. He expressed optimism that the new team will excel even more in every endeavour they undertake.

The unit’s outgoing President Tiarenla Jamir said at the event that even though she could not fulfil all the goals during her tenure, the new team will accomplish the aspirations.

Longkumer, the new president, said in his acceptance speech that after associating with Rotary he could see that it was an association that gave to the people in meaningful ways.

This year, he said, Rotary will focus on six areas namely peace building and conflict prevention; basic education and literacy; disease prevention and treatments; water, sanitation and hygiene; community economic development, and maternal and child health.
