Imphal, Oct. 16 (EMN): The committee of political parties, a platform of opposition parties on Tuesday submitted a memorandum — seven-point resolution adopted during the people’s political convention in Imphal to the state Governor Dr. Najma Heptulla.
This was disclosed by Convener RK Anand of the committee comprising nine political parties in presence of representatives of the parties during a press conference at congress Bhavan here this afternoon. The political parties are congress, CPI, CPI (M), NCP, JD (S), AIFB, RSP, BSP and AAP.

The declaration condemned the midnight raid of the Manipur University hostels by armed police, demanded ensuring normal functioning to the university at the earliest, and judicial inquiry on the issue.

It also decided to oppose the implementation of the framework agreement signed between NSCN (IM) and centre.
The recolution also included the demand to uphold democracy, secularism and socialism as enshrined in the constitution of India. It ondemned skyhigh price rise of the essential commodities besides demanding to ensure Indo-Myanmar boundary (Manipur sector) demarcation by traditional demarcation.

“In our half an hour discussion, our governor took the matters seriously,” says Anand, former congress MLA from Naoriya Pakhanglakpa constituency. Sharing a similar sentiment, former minister and former CPI Manipur state council secretary Dr Moirangthem Nara informed that the committee of political parties will see how far the governor helps in implementing the demands.

Sharing his view during the press conference, former MLA Dr. Ng Bijoy also admitted that the state governor was concerned about the developments.
