DIMAPUR — The Mon District Planning & Development Board (DBDP) meeting for the month of July was held on Thursday at the DC’s conference hall under the chairmanship of Mankhao Konyak, MLA and DPDB chairman, Mon.
Deputy Commissioner and Vice Chairman of DPDB Mon, Wennyei Konyak, who presided over the proceeding, called upon the new members for self introduction, wherein the following members introduced themselves to the board — Meyisusu Jamir, District Public Relations Officer; Dr. Tialila. Principal of Wangkhao Government College; Dr. Achumi Ezung, Principal of New Modern College, Wakching; and Temsu Toshi, District Agriculture Officer.
According to a DIPR report, after reviewing last meeting minutes, the DC opened the floor for discussion of new agendas.
The house deliberated on the Entrepreneur Association Mon's registration and forwarded it to higher authorities for approval. Discussions also covered the construction of a new Mon HQ road to Loipuho, Oting village, under PMGSY. Additionally, the Finance Secretary of Officer Club Mon briefed on the club's activities and reported on the recent departmental tournament.
The deputy commissioner also discussed ways to support the district football team ahead of the Dr. T Ao Trophy tournament in Kohima.
The Agriculture department gave a PowerPoint presentation on the department’s activities in the district.
Bhandari SDPDB meeting held
The monthly Sub Divisional Planning & Development Board (SDPDB) meeting for Bhandari, Wokha district, was held at the Summer House-cum-Guest House on July 16, with MLA and chairman of SDPDB Bhandari, Achumbemo Kikon, as the chairperson.
In the meeting, Kikon suggested that integrated farming system in Bhandari sub-division will promote sustainability, efficient resource use, and profitability, benefiting local farmers and economy.
He also asserted that Bhandari sub-division has a huge potential for meat supply through cattle and other livestock rearing initiatives.
Veterinary Assistant Surgeon, Merapani, Dr. Kikali, informed the house that all livestock and poultry from Assam must undergo health checks at Merapani quarantine post, including vaccination history and illness screening, before entering Nagaland.
She also highlighted that despite existing challenges in regard to Veterinary dispensary and staff quarter, the department has extensively conducted awareness and vaccination campaigns throughout the sub-division on animal and poultry health, diseases out break and preventions, etc.
SDO (Civil) Ralan highlighted that a joint team, including district administration, border magistrate, forest officials, and security forces, is conducting a door-to-door survey in Sector C of DAB, which caused apprehension among local residents.
Achumbemo Kikon also announced that a medical team led by Dr. Tseilhoutuo Rhütso will be stationed at CHC Bhandari on July 28, as part of the Chief Minister's Mobile Operation Theatre initiative. The team will provide advanced surgical and healthcare services, including keyhole surgery, free of cost to rural and remote areas. The house also discussed on the ongoing farming activities at the Nagaland State Seed Farm, Merapani, and work progressing on the Nagaland Foothill Road Construction.
