Dimapur, Jan. 31: Unidentified miscreants allegedly opened fire at the private residence of Director of Industries and Commerce I Bendangliba located at Half Nagarjan, Dimapur, around 12 midnight on Tuesday.

Director and his family were away at his official residence in Kohima at the time of the incident, his son told media persons.

The only person present at the time of the incident was caretaker of the house, who was fast asleep. Bendangliba’s son recounted the caretaker woke up to the sound of gunshot and went back to sleep assuming it to be firecrackers.

The following morning seven empty bullet shells were found in the compound of the Directors house by the caretaker. The main gate, first floor window and roof of the house were found riddled with bullets.

As per East Police personnel, seven empty bullet shells found were suspected to be of 7.65 caliber AK Rifle. No lead has been ascertained and investigation is on, police said.
