Dimapur, Aug. 15 (EMN): Minister of Higher and Technical Education and Tribal Affairs, Temjen Imna Along, has encouraged the students to promote and preserve the rich culture and traditions and live a cultured life, adding anyone who loses one’s culture and traditions would have no identity.
The minister stated this while addressing the teachers, non-teaching staff, and students of Sao Chang College in Tuensang during his visit on August 14, the college media cell stated in an update.
While appreciating the college for introducing traditional attires on every Wednesday in the college, the minister urged the students to identify the best practices and values of the various tribes in the district and promote better relations and respect amongst the communities.
Stating that the college belongs to everyone, the minister impressed upon the students to have a sense of belonging and extend possible assistance. He advised the students to inculcate all the best possible things and become like a fruit bearing trees.
Also advising the students to acquire the habit of giving and not only of receiving, he appealed the gathering to contribute for the progress of the college. The minister also assured all possible assistance and support to the college.
The minister further requested the students, teachers and non-teaching staff to plant fruit trees within the college campus. He also visited classrooms, library, and science laboratory and contributed his one month’s salary to the college.
The minister was accompanied by Imnatiba, Advisor of Industries and Commerce, Labour and Employment, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, along with various government officials, NGOs and students’ organisations.
