MHRD officials visit Khriezephe village

Officials from the Ministry of Human Resource Development, government of India was in Khriezephe village in Dimapur on November 19.The officials from the ministry were led by Additional secretary Shrimati Vrinda Swrup and Director of RMSA Shrimati Carolyn Deshmuk. They government leaders were accompanied by officials from the government of Nagaland.
According to a press release received here today from the Khriezephe Village Council, the village leaders ‘apprised the visiting team that the village got full construction of GMS building amounting to Rs 15.5 lakhs’ under the centrally sponsored schemes of SSA-Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, for 6 rooms. This included a room for computers, and the other a staff room. “Through the contribution and participation of the village community in the form of materials, financial and physical contribution, the building was constructed in to RCC with a total amount of Rs 21 lakhs,” the council said.
The villagers also appealed to the visiting central team “that a boundary wall for the school compound is very much needed to protect the building from animals and to maintain a clean environment.” The village has constructed the computer room but was yet to receive the computers ‘from the department,’ the council said.
Besides interacting with school students concerning free school uniforms, mid-day meals and textbooks, the visiting officials also inspected other facilities such as school infrastructure through provision of additional class rooms, toilets, drinking water, maintenance of grants and school improvement grants.
The SSA is Government of India’s flagship programme to universalize elementary education as mandated by the 86th amendment to the Constitution of India. The amendment seeks to offer free and compulsory education to children aged 6-14 years as a fundamental right.
