MDFA Trophy: Telongjem FC and Alempang YA win

Mokokchung, Oct. 14 (EMN): Telongjem FC continued their dominance in Pool D by stunning SSS Yellow 3-0 on Monday to collect nine points out of three matches played so far in the ongoing MDFA Trophy matches at Imkongmeren Sports Complex.

Kakhevi Assumi put Telongjem FC ahead in the first half by scoring in the 25th minute. Muleyi Medeo extended the lead in the 47th minute by converting a penalty kick into a goal.

SSS Yellow afternoon was completely shattered when Purakum netted the third goal for Telongjem just five minutes before the stoppage time.  Whether Telongjem will enter the quarter-final as Pool D chart topper will be decided in the match against SSS Blue on October 14.

In the second match of the day, Alempang YA defeated Mongsenbai Youngster 3-2, keeping its stake high for the quarter-final spot in the MDFA Trophy at Imkongmeren Sports Complex on Monday.

Both the teams needed to win in order to advance to the next stage.

Amongba and Yashimeren scored in the 15th and 36th minutes respectively to put Alempang in the driver’s seat with 2-0 score line. However, Mongsenbai equalised in the second half with Imnatoshi and Yangersosang scoring in the48th and 60th minutes respectively.

But Lipoktoshi shot the winning goal for Alempang in the 62nd minute.

The last league match for Alempang is against Kumlong SA which will decide their position in Pool B.
