MDFA Trophy: Intermingle Club in quarter-final; Kumlong win

Mokokokchung, Oct. 15 (EMN): Defending champions Intermingle Club comfortably beat Revolution 6-1 in their last league match of the ongoing MDFA Trophy at Imkongmeren Sports Complex on Tuesday to qualify for the quarter-final as Pool A chart leaders. They remained unbeaten in the tournament this season.

Opanglemzung’s hat-trick and a goal each from Ratobe Zeliang, Limasungkum and Jungshiwati helped Intermingle sail through to the quarter-final.

Intermingle were leading 3-1 before half time after Opanglemzung scored two goals from a corner kick and an assist from Zeliang in the 22nd and 28th minutes. Then Zeliang scored a brilliant goal in the 26th minute for Intermingle.
The lone goal for Revolution was scored by Latongmeren in the first half.

Limasungkum stunned the Revolution byscoring a goal in the 49th minute and Opanglemzung scored his first hat-trick of the tournament in the 57th minute. Jungshiwati from substitution bench too joined the party by scoring a goal in the 65th minute.

In the second match of the day, Nungshi Sayong scored twice, one in 28th minute and the other in the 34th minute, to help Kumlong SA beat Mongolian Brothers 2-0.

Kumlong’s position in Pool B will be decided in the clashed with Alempang YD.
