Kohima, Oct. 11 (EMN): Defending champions Centurion FC Kohima Village narrowly defeated Chumu Town Youth Organisation 1-0 in the first quarter-final match on Friday to book their semi-final berth in the ongoing 20th NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy at Khuochiezie local ground.

Centurion’s talisman Yhunshalo Kemp scored the all-important goal in the final minute of the 30 minutes extra time.

Their match was disrupted by incessant rains and fog on Thursday, forcing the officials to call off the game at 88th minute before full time.

After playing the remaining two minutes of the stipulated 90 minutes, the match went into the extra time where Centurion FC got the better of strong Chumu Town with the lone goal coming in the dying moments of the game during the extra time.

Centurion FC will now take on the winner of the fourth quarter-final match to be played between Viswemi FC and Unity FC.

Playing the second quarter-final match, MVYO Meriema defeated KVSU Kohima Village 2-0 with Vizotuolie and Keneisezo scoring in the 39th and 40th minute respectively during the first half to help the team storm into the semi-finals.

Striker Vizotuolie has scored 10 goals so far, which is the highest by an individual player in this tournament.

KVSU held MVYO from scoring more goals in the second half but failed to capitalise on the few chances they got during the game.

With the win, MVYO will now clash with the winner of the third quarter-final match to be played between Naga Hospital Colony Youth Organisation and MTYO Medziphema.
