Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh inspected the MTU extension campus, CHC Heirok, and other facilities in Thoubal.

IMPHAL — Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Sunday inspected various government infrastructure, including the proposed extension campus of the Manipur Technical University (MTU), located in and around the Heirok Assembly Constituency in Thoubal district.
The proposed extension campus of the MTU site was constructed to house the Heirok Engineering College under MTU.
It was later decided to convert it into an extension campus of the MTU. The chief minister was accompanied by Heirok MLA, Thokchom Radhesyham Singh; Vice Chancellor of MTU, Prof. W Chandbabu Singh; and Commissioner of Education, Ningthoujam Geoffrey.
During the inspection, the chief minister instructed the chief engineer of the Public Works Department (PWD) to blacktop the 6-kilometre-long road connecting the campus with the Imphal-Moreh sector of National Highway 102.

Prof. Chandbabu told the chief minister that they wanted to start classes on the extension campus from this academic session starting from July-August.
The chief minister also visited the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya of Thoubal district, which was temporarily functioning from a state government building. He interacted with the teachers and students of the school and also planted trees on the school campus.
Later, the chief minister visited the community health centre (CHC) in Heirok and reviewed facilities and services being provided to the local people.
During interaction with the doctors of the CHC, he has assured them to improve the existing infrastructures.
He also inspected the women’s market sheds in Heirok.
