Leaders mourn Shiela Dikshit’ demise

Dimapur, July 20 (EMN): Leaders cutting across party lines have mourned the demise of veteran politician and three times chief minister of Delhi, Shiela Dikshit, who passed away on July 20 at Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, New Delhi.

TR Zeliang: Leader of the opposition lamented that her demise is a huge loss for Delhi and the nation.

Zeliang said that having served as Member of Parliament from 1984-1989 and later becoming the face of the Congress in Delhi and leading the party to victory in three consecutive Assembly elections, she was a success story all through. Zeliang also added that serving as the longest Chief Minister of Delhi, she was instrumental in transforming the face of Delhi in many ways.

He further conveyed condolence to the bereaved family and prayed that Almighty God would grant them strength to bear with the loss.

K Therie: President of Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC), K Therie stated that the sudden demise of Sheila Dikshit has shocked all the ranks and files of NPCC.

Eulogising Dikshit, Therie said she stood like a solid rock and achieved her vision. “She changed the structure of the Capital of India and because of her commitment and strong determination, India today enjoys being second to none- metro railways, international airports, flyovers, roads, malls and many more giving opportunities to new generations in employment,” Therie added.

He lamented that in her demise, the nation has not only lost a great leader but the northeast has lost a parent. He further conveyed condolence for the family members.
