Wokha, Feb. 2 (EMN):
Lakhuti Baptist church in Wokha district celebrated its centennial jubilee from January 31 to the 2nd of February with the theme, “Thus far he lead us” (1st Samuel 7:12).

Thousands of believers gathered to attend the centennial jubilee celebrations at Lakhuti local ground where Rev. Professor Akheto Sema, general secretary of the CBCNEI, delivered the message, speaking about God’s faithfulness and his countless blessings.

Sema called upon the congregation to be humble and to stay faithful to continue to receive God’s blessings. The church leader said true celebration of the centennial jubilee is in using the time to reconcile broken relationships and to dedicate one’s life to God.

Sema urged the people to retrospect on past sacrifices as through them the present congregation could celebrate the auspicious occasion. He urged them to learn and to forgive toward building a strong foundation of love and relationships which he said is the true essence of celebrating jubilees.

Further, he reminded the congregation to rededicate their lives, and live a better and godly life remembering past faithfulness which strengthens the church and the society till today.

Rev. Dr. Mar. Atsongchanger, executive secretary of the ABAM, also delivered a word of greetings during the event.

Dr. Ezamo Murry, the speaker of the valedictory session, spoke on the message of ‘following the path of righteousness and becoming disciples of God.’ He said God’s love is ‘amazing grace’ and that ‘we are in the giving end and not at the receiving end.’ He urged the congregation to be givers who have ‘true hearts’ and to be torch bearers to show the light in the dark to lead the way for others.

Earlier on January 31, Dr. A. Abeni Patton, assistant professor at BTC in Pfutsuro, was the speaker of the inaugural event.

On the second day, February 1, a memorial marking the centennial was unveiled and dedicated by Rev. Nyanchumo Lotha, executive secretary of the LBCA. Rev. Zanao Mozhui, pastor at the LBC in Dimapur, was the speaker of the programme during the second day’s event.

The three-day centennial jubilee, 1920-2020, concluded on February 2 with a candlelight service.
