KVSA meet: T Khel emerge overall champions

T Khel emerged as the overall champions of the 64th Kohima Village Sports Association (KVSA) meet which concluded on Saturday at Khuochiezie local ground in Kohima.

T Khel also became “athletics team” champions, while L Khel bagged “games team” championship title.

The concluding day of the biennial sports meet was marked by traditional wrestling competition and cross country race.

Menuosetuo Yiese of D Khel defeated Keviser Dzüvichü of L Khel in straight bouts in the final of the wrestling competition to win the gold medal. Vizakietuo Suohu (T Khel) and Dziesevizo Kire (D Khel) bagged third and fourth prizes respectively.

Wrestling team champion and team runners-up titles went to D Khel and T Khel respectively. 

In men’s cross country race, Thejakhrielie Mechülho from P Khel fetched gold medal, while Khriebeilie Sorhrie (L Khel) and Kevise Belho (T Khel) bagged silver and bronze medals respectively.

In the women’s category (cross country), P Khel swept the competition with Khriezelhounuo Keyho bagging gold, Lhouvovinuo Keyho silver and Kelhouneinuo Rutsa bronze.

Neiketoulie Belho and Kekhrieneinuo Solo, both from T Khel, bagged men and women athletics individual championship titles respectively.

Prizes were handed over to the winners by chief host Dr. Neiphi Kire, chairman of Kohima Village Council, during the closing ceremony where a recapitulation of the 64th KVSA meet was also screened.

More than 450 delegates from four clans of Kohima village — Tsütuonuomia (T), Dapfütsumia (D), Puchatsumia (P) and Lhisemia (L) — participated in the six-day sports meet which featured about 40 events.
