Dimapur, Dec. 18: The Kaketshir Telungjem Aoyimkum of Dimapur (KTAD) celebrated its silver jubilee at the Panchayat Hall, at Aoyimkum in Dimapur on December 18.

A professor of Oriental Theological College in Dimapur, Dr. Pangernungba Kechu was the main speaker of the event. ‘Nagas as a whole have fallen back,’ the speaker said, in urging the youths to bring change, solution and to be pioneers with new ideas.

The Nagas have the capability and will to ‘imitate anyone’ and any culture but lacks “skill, quality and originality.” “Our definition should not be imposed by others,” he said.

Kechu said that success should not be a measure of wealth and qualification. He urged the gathering to be measured by character. He was of the view that education had completely changed in a way that it “numbs the creativity” of students. He urged the students to utilize the opportunities in the world and positively.

A book commemorating the silver jubilee book was released by Moatoshi Longkumer, member of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly. In his speech, Longkumer said that jubilees should be a celebration of thanksgiving to God. “I urge the gathering to ponder why Nagas have backslidden in many areas and try to come up with ways and means to march forward and not back ward,” he said.
