Kohima’s Smart City offers work updates, Ease of Living Index

Dimapur, Feb. 20 (EMN): The Kohima Smart City Development Limited has offered updates on the various activities concerning the Ease of Living Index Survey in the capital town. 

Kovi Meyase, chief executive officer of Kohima Smart City Development Limited, issued a press release on Thursday giving the updates. The establishment informed that there are only ten days left for the survey, and for which the office was appealing to the area’s citizens to participate ‘for a better and more livable Kohima.’

While the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has created a benchmark of at least 1% of the population to participate in the online survey, Kohima City has crossed the minimum threshold value of 1% of the population ie., 1076 people, the press release stated. The latest figure is 1769 people, the updates stated.

Kovi Meyase stated that although the target has been achieved, the offices wants to continue to create awareness and reach out to all sections of the society to ensure maximum participation.

The press release highlighted various different activities being undertaken by the Kohima Smart City office to create awareness and to enable participation of the citizens. This includes outreach programmes to all the 19 wards, colleges, senior citizens, street vendors, taxi and bus unions, the Kohima Chamber of Commerce and Industries, and also through local festivals and events.

It is informed that the ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs will be randomly selecting 25 citizens from each of the 114 cities through a computer generated algorithm.

‘The winners will be awarded with a 1000 gift voucher and an opportunity to interact with the city mayor/administrator on important issues,’ the authority stated.

From among the 25 selected winners of each city, one citizen from will be randomly selected and out of the 114 citizens, three will again be randomly be selected as national winners. The three national winners will be awarded INR 25000 cash prize and felicitated at the “4th apex conference of smart cities” to be held at Surat in June 2020, the press release stated.

It was also informed that from the 114 cities the best three performing cities will be awarded with certificates and cash prizes of INR three lakh, two lakh and one lakh, the Smart City office stated.

“There are 3 categories ie., above 10 lakh population cities, 5 lakh to 10 lakh population cities and below 5 lakh population cities. Posters were also handed over to the Kohima Chamber of Commerce and Industries and stickers on citizen perception survey were given to the taxi and bus unions for awareness creation,” the press release stated.
