Kohima to launch 2nd round IMI

Dimapur, Nov. 4 (EMN): The Kohima District Task Force (DTF) has announced to launch the second round of Intensified Mission Indradhanush (IMI) and Routine Immunisation (RI) on November 7.

This was announced during its meeting on November 3 in the DC’s office chamber, Kohima, under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner, Rajesh Soundararajan.

Presenting brief introduction on activities carried out under IMI and RI, Dr. Avile Zao, DPO (RCH-UIP), said the second round of IMI would be launched on November 7. In this regard, all ASHAs and AWWs are directed to track the left-out and drop-out children accordingly.

SMO (WHO), Dr. Sheila Longkumer, in her presentation, highlighted the need for rigorous awareness and mobilisation to increase immunisation intake and educate community on fear of Adverse Event Following Immunisation (AEFI).

Project Officer (UNDP), Rajesh Khartu Monsang, spoke on eVIN vaccine stock. He mentioned that eVIN consisted of a series of storage and transport links designed to keep vaccine at recommended temperature at Cold Chain Points.

Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, Rajesh Soundararajan, in his closing remark, stressed on the need to involve village councils and health committees to generate demand for routine immunisation, create awareness and to coordinate with village councils during the preparation of due list and micro planning. He also urged the allied departments to provide cooperation to the health workers in their respective areas.

Representatives from Education Department and Social Welfare Department were also present in the meeting.
