There are more than 1,500 beds available at 94 quarantine facilities in Kohima district as on May 10; and it can be extended in some of the centres.

These quarantine facilities included three government designated quarantine facilities — ATI, Basic Services for Urban Poor (BSUP), Meriema, and K Badze, Rüsoma –, community health centres, primary health centres, and village level arrangements, such as, guest houses, school buildings, community buildings, hostels etc. under Kohima district.

According to a document with list of quarantine centres in the district that was made available on Sunday, around 1511 beds (some of which can be extended), have been kept ready. However, the total does not include home quarantine facility.

As of May 10, the total beds in the three government designated quarantine facilities stands at 10 in ATI, 254 at BSUP, Meriema, and 545 at K Badze in Rüsoma. Over 700 beds have also been made available in five blocks — Kohima Sardar, Jakhama, Sechü-Zubza, Tseminyu, and Chiephobozou — under Kohima district.

Under Tseminyu block, about 372 beds have been kept ready in various PHCs, CHCs, and village-level arrangements. In Chiephobozou block, about 130 beds (extendable) have been kept ready. Jakhama and Sechu-Zubza blocks have about 97 (extendable) and 89 beds respectively. Besides the three government-designated quarantine facilities, over 10 beds (extendable) have also been arranged under Kohima Sardar block.

It may be mentioned that the state government under the initiative of Empowered Group for Covid-19, headed by Finance Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary Sentiyanger Imchen, is said to be in touch with government guest houses and private hotels for more accommodation in case of shortage. The quarantine facilities are been identified to accommodate for citizens of Nagaland coming from outside the state, who are expected to arrive in the state soon.

According to the Nagaland Covid-19 dashboard, a total of 88 villages under Kohima district have been earmarked or established for quarantine centres. The number of persons registered for quarantine stands at 395, while the number of persons that completed home quarantine was 7106. Meanwhile, 22 persons coming from outside Nagaland are currently undergoing quarantine at Meriema.

In April, a total of 16 beds attached with western toilets were being kept ready in two separate blocks for persons with disabilities at Meriema quarantine facility.
