Kohima dispatches relief items to sub-divisions

Kohima, April 9(EMN): The second-phase of relief goods were dispatched to Kohima sub-division according to their requirements. Essential goods and materials were dispatched on Thursday to Jakhama, Kezocha, Tsemenyu, Chiephobozou, Botsa and Tsogin.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa, who is also in-charge of the relief and rehabilitation for Covid-19, said that they had started the distribution since March 31, giving ration relief to stranded students and travelers, daily wage earners and to all the people from other districts, who are in need of relief.

“As of April 8, we have issued to around 13000 people under Kohima municipal area alone, excluding the sub-divisions,” she informed adding, “We are trying to dispatch relief materials as far as possible.”

She shared that through the various help lines, they are getting calls for assistance. She also informed that they are utilising assistance of the Angami Youth Organisation (AYO) in dispatching the relief material to various colonies as the stranded students and travelers are not able to come to the distribution centre to collect the relief materials due to the lockdown.

“As and when we get the details, we are sending AYO volunteers to directly hand over the relief materials to the beneficiaries,” she mentioned.

She also expressed her gratitude to the BRTF, BSF, CRPF and DEF for their assistance and giving out the vehicles to transport the relief materials to the other sub-divisions. On April 9, 78 BN CRPF, under the leadership of Ram Chandra commandant (AOL) and 93rd BN BSF Chedema assisted in dispatching the relief goods.
