Kohima, June 15 (EMN): Defending champions Sechü Zubza started off the Seyie Auto Kohima Football League on a winning note, but failed to garner any points in the last two matches. The fourth match with Vanguard FC did not go well despite maximum targeted goals, here at the IG Stadium in Kohima on June 15. The club lost 2-3 to Vanguard FC.

Meanwhile, Vanguard FC increased its points from six to nine at the league table. The team will now face Forerunners FC on Monday.

The second match played between Vanguard FC and Sechü Zubza was rather a nerve-wrecking moment, when both teams started to play hard to win the match. It was Sechü Zubza’s Captain Rhitsho Mero, who scored the first goal of the second match in the 24th minute to go one up in the first half.

Vanguard FC came stronger in the second half of the match with three goals altogether. A free goal from the boots of Matthew Kezhose and Yhunshalo Kemp was comfortably scored when Sechü Zubza goalkeeper advanced in the 49th and 59th minute respectively.

Sinlo Kent scored another goal in the 67th minute leading the team to victory. Vanguard goalkeeper Tesinsen Kath remarkably blocked maximum targeted goals including a direct penalty which was later faulted by the referee.

After a handball from Vanguard FC, Sechü Zubza got a penalty in the 91st minute of the match. Rhitsho Mero’s penalty kick was blocked by the goal keeper, only to be at fault, when Vanguard players crossed the line before the whistle. A re-kick was initiated securing another goal to Sechü Zubza.

In the first match, A Yhome FC beat Kohima Eagles FC 4-3. Two of A Yhome FC goals came from the boot of Vilhoubeituo Angami in the 9th and 64th minute. Meanwhile Keyidwasaplung (Salu Zeliang) and Punuru Chakhesang scored a goal each in the 55th and 64th minute leading team to victory.

Müleyi Medeo scored the first goal of the first match in the 19th minute in favour of Kohima Eagles FC. Noulevituo Pienyü and Kevisanyü Peseyie scored a goal each in the 84th and 89th minute but lost to A Yhome FC by one goal.
