JGHSS, Viswema to clash with RGHSS in the final

Kohima, July 13 (EMN): John Government Higher Secondary School, Viswema and Rüzhükhrie Government Higher Secondary School will clash in the final match on Monday after emerging winners in the semi-final matches on Saturday, at the ongoing third Kohima District Inter-School Football Tournament at the IG Stadium.

John Government Higher Secondary School, Viswema thrashed St. Mary’s Cathedral Higher Secondary School 7-2 in the first match. Kelethuto Kin’s hat-trick in the 77th minute finished off the first match in favour of John GHSS, Viswema. Kin became the 11th hat-trick scorer of the tournament.

St. Mary’s Cathedral HSS was leading in the first few minutes of the match, after opening the score by Tepevil in the 10th minute. However, Zayiese Sale of John HSS equalised in the 29th minute to make it 1-1 until the next 30th minute of the match. It was Kelethuto Kin’s first goal of three in the 38th minute that ended the first half 2-1 in favour of John HSS.

Tepevil netted another goal in the 57th minute for St. Mary’s Cathedral HSS to level the score at 2-2. John GHSS managed to gear up from then on, and went on to score five more goals altogether till final whistle.

Vizakrüto Sothu scored in the 61st minute. The team was unstoppable, when Kelethuto Kin scored in the 69th minute and Vichüto Phira (C) scored in the 73rd minute through a free kick. Justin Malangmei scored another goal in the 75th minute. Unluckily, St. Mary’s Cathedral HSS were down to 10 men in the 73rd minute as Vedeto was sent off by the referee after he was booked twice.

In the second match, Rüzhükhrie Government Higher Secondary School knocked out Don Bosco Higher Secondary School 5-1.

Two of the goals for Rüzhükhrie GHSS were scored by Küvethi Swüro in the 19th and 51st minute respectively. Vetsoto, Kereilhukho, and Khisenlo Apon netted a goal each in the 33rd, 37th, and 52nd minute respectively. The lone goal for Don Bosco HSS was scored by Kekhrievor in the 58th minute.  Mhathung Yanthan, Advisor Horticulture, Government of Nagaland attended the semi-final matches on Saturday.

The organiser has invited all participating schools to attend the grand finale match. It also informed representatives from the respective schools to come forward and receive participation certificates of all their players on the last day. The schools have been asked to remove their banners and flags after the final match.
