DIMAPUR — The Joint Council Forum (JCF) has expressed grave concern over the persistent “reckless and high-speed movement” of vehicles along the Tajen Ao Road in Dimapur.
In a press statement, the forum noted that despite passing through densely populated residential areas, commercial hubs, schools, educational institutions and churches with continuous pedestrian activity, heavy vehicles including trucks, dumpers and sand carriers (during permitted hours), along with smaller vehicles, continue to overspeed with blatant disregard for traffic norms and public safety.
It stated that this has turned the stretch into a highly dangerous zone, a reality made clear by the recent loss of two lives in a collision involving a motorcycle and a bicycle, an entirely preventable incident.

The JCF urged the concerned authorities to take immediate and decisive action, including strict enforcement of speed limits, regulation of heavy vehicle movement through populated areas, installation of warning signage and traffic-calming measures and deployment of traffic personnel during vulnerable hours.
It added that public safety cannot be compromised, and urgent intervention is essential to prevent further loss of life and restore safety and order on this road.
