Independence Day celebrated in Karbi Anglong

Diphu, Aug.15: With the rest of the other states, the 72nd Independence Day was celebrated in Diphu, the head quarter of hills district of Karbi Anglong at the Diphu Government Boys Higher Secondary playground here on Wed. Aug. 15.
Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Tuliram Ronghang hoisted the tri-colour Flag in presence of the deputy commisioner of Karbi Anglong Mridul Kumar Mahanta and other dignitaries.

Speaking on the occasion CEM Ronghang said, we have completed 71 years of our Independence from the British rule, likewise the whole country is celebrating the 72nd Year of Independence Day here today. Ronghang also said under the dynamic leadership of India Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the governement is calling for the co-operation of every man and women to work for another dream called the dream for a “New India” likewise there is a dream for a ‘’ New Assam’’ under the able leadership of chief minister of Assam, Sarbananda Sonawal and Finace Minister Dr. Himanta Biswas .

CEM Ronghang also emphasised on a sign of a ‘’New Karbi Anglong’’ saying the development of Infrastructure road construction is already going on to connect every part Karbi Anglong with the district headquarters. The government is taking initiative to provide electricity, drinking water and health facilities etc. for all.

Meanwhile, the government aims to give economic independence to every family with the object to bring a revolution in agriculture; our goal is that the farm income of the people should become more than double. CEM Ronghang said, 121 tractors to farmers in Karbi Anglong and 149 nos, tractors to farmers in West Karbi

Anglong had been distributed in the last week besides other farm implement and seeds. The government has introduced several livelihood schemes, development in district, INR 10 crore for construction of mini stadium in the 26 MAC constituencies under KAAC for the benefit of youths.

CEM Ronghang said, we have to erase bandh culture, instead work culture should give more emphasis in order to develop our region, bandh has no solution at all.
The long standing demand and aspiration of the people of Karbi Anglong to achieve Autonomous state under Article 244(A) of the Constitution of India, assured to support and best to achieve its demand.

During the celebration pension’s award such as artist pension was awarded to Chandrasing Kro, literary pension to Rupsing Teron, Assam journalist’s pension to Nagen Borah, best sportsperson-2018 Kangbura Timung, One time sports financial assistance to Nani Gopal Dey and Sudangsu Ranjan Dey.
