Dimapur, April 20 (EMN): A total of 367 patients have availed free medical services during a one-day health mela held at Government Middle School at Lilen village under Jalukie block in Peren district on April 16.

The medical team consisted of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Peren, Dr. Denis Hangsing; along with Dr. Yartenla, Deputy CMO; Dr. Nukshisangla, DPO UIP/RCH; Dr. Yetovi Tucca, Obs & Gynae SMO, Jalukie; Dr. Albert, MD; Dr. Lungkeuding, paediatrition; Dr. Martha, MO Dungki; Dr. Ramdeu, MO Heningkunglwa PHC; Dr. Gloria, dental surgeon; nurses, ophthalmic assistant, paramedics, counsellors and lab technician, ICTC, IEC personnel, surveillance worker malaria, NHM staff, ASHAs and AWWs.

Speaking on the occasion, CMO expressed gratitude to the Nagaland Medicines Dealers’ Association (NMDA) for contributing medicines towards the health mela. The village council chairman also expressed gratitude to the medical team for conducting the camp in Lilen village.

A CMO press release stated that specialised doctors have administered free health checkups and provide medicines.

It stated that patients numbering 367 have availed free medical services during the health mela including 38 gynae patients, 86 MD, 85 paediatrics, 128 general and 30 dental patients. Under the family planning services, condoms, Mala N and ec pills were distributed.

Besides, a total of 20 dental extractions were done, while immunisations were administered to children, 13 ANC for pregnant women and counselling and blood test for HIV, malaria and Urine sugar test and RBS and HB test and vision tests- eye screening were done

Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) and health talks on family planning and adolescents health care, child health immunisation, maternal health and HIV/AIDS were also carried during the mela. Nutritional packages were also given to all the pregnant women and lactating mothers, the release added.
