GPRN/NNC (Apex Body) accuses former president of corruption

DIMAPUR — The GPRN/NNC (Apex Body) has issued a public statement formally disowning all claims made by its impeached former President SS Pongkhu Naga, accusing him of abusing his position for personal interests and warning the public against recognising any parallel structure under his name.

According to a press statement issued by GPRN/NNC (AB), Pongkhu has no kilonser or Tatar Hoho under him.

It said that to settle the matter clearly, Pongkhu and Alu Yimkhung were summoned to address unauthorised financial collection. However, despite several reminders, both failed to present themselves. The house, after a meeting on June 27, decided to suspend the then acting C-N-C and notified Pongkhu to present himself, but he failed to respond.

The GPRN/NNC (AB) named Francis Kikon as the general secretary, later approved by the kilonsers and tatars present.

It added that Pongkhu, who was Vice President under NNC (PB) Z Royim, was terminated due to his incompetency and corrupt nature. Despite that, after his confession, he was made the acting president.

However, the house in 2025 became alert when he started issuing tax and donation notices without the knowledge of the finance committee. It was alleged that despite being cautioned, he continued to defy the house, which led to his impeachment.

The GPRN/NNC (AB) prohibited Pongkhu from using its name and reminded the Naga people that because of such selfish persons, many groups have emerged.

The body has sought forgiveness from the Naga people for the confusion caused by the actions of Pongkhu.
