Dimapur, Feb. 10 (EMN): The government of Nagaland has appealed to the civil society organisations to reconsider their call for a 10-hour bandh on Monday.

In a statement issued on late Saturday night, Chief Secretary Temjen Toy stated that the Nagaland government will be proposing the adoption of a resolution in the forthcoming budget session scheduled for Feb. 21, as decided during the Jan. 31 consultative meeting held in Dimapur.

“Let us bear in mind that it is also the time for examinations for students who may need to travel for classes, examinations, etc. A bandh at this time will adversely impact them.

“In view of this, and especially when we are united and very clear in our resolve to protect the interests of the state, a sincere appeal is being made to the Nagaland GBs’ Federation and all civil society organisations and NGOs to reconsider the bandh call and instead voice opposition to the Citizenship Amendment Bill unitedly (sic) in a democratic manner,” read the statement.
