Mumbai, July 16 (PTI): Gold and silver bounced back in the bullion market here today, taking positive lead from global market amid increased buying by local jewellers.

Standard gold (99.5 purity) rose by Rs 130 to end at Rs 30,180 per 10 grams from last weekend’s level of Rs 30,050.

Pure gold (99.9 purity) also rose by a similar margin to finish at Rs 30,330 per 10 grams against Rs 30,200.

Silver (.999 fineness) firmed up by Rs 135 per kg to conclude at Rs 38,810 from Rs 38,675.

Globally, gold steadied as the dollar slipped, but higher interest rates in the United States weighing on investor demand and a weak physical market are expected to pressure prices of the precious metal.

Spot gold was up 0.2 per cent at USD 1,244.13 an ounce at early trade.

Silver was up 0.3 per cent at USD 15.83 an ounce, after hitting a seven-month low at USD 15.67 on Friday.
