Four detained on charge of drugging people

Dimapur, Aug. 16 (EMN): Acting on information received on August 11 about drugging of a constable of Assam Police travelling on train No. 55803 UP bound for Kamakhya, Crime Prevention and Detection Squad (CPDS) team of Railway Protection Force (RPF) swung into action arrested four persons along with some drugs from their possession.
In a press release, chief public relations officer, Pranav Jyoti Sharma, stated that CPDS team comprising of head constables Sujit Mazumdar, Nur Islam, LM Thakuria, constable Ajay Kumar and head constable of crime intelligent branch RC Kumar conducted checking of the train at Kamakhya railway station and arrested one person identified as Sukur Ali (38), son of Belal Seikh of Povesti Salmara village in Dhubri district.

On the same night, CPDS team also apprehended one person on suspicion identified as Hakim Ali (58), son of Asmot Ali of Gabardhanpara village in Dhubri district from the circulating area of Kamakhya railway station whose physical description matched with that given by one lady victim on earlier date (later identified by the lady).

As per confession of the arrested Hakim Ali, two more associates namely Anuar Hussain (30), son of Md. Jahoruddin of 19 Jharnarchar Part- 4 village in Dhubri district, and Foyjal Haque (30), son of Suboruddin of 19 Jharnarchar Part- 4 village in Dhubri district were also arrested from train No. 15418 (Rajya Rani Express), who were planning to drug passengers.

The release also stated that about 99 numbers Ativan tablets (2 mg each) were recovered from them. It added that the four arrested persons were handed over to In-charge of GRP/Kamakhya on August 12. In a separate incident on August 11, RPF team recovered 10 kgs of Ganja from Agartala – Habibganj Express.

In this connection, one person namely Sumit Yadav (23), son of Vinod Yadav of Yadav Tola village in Katihar district (Bihar) was arrested. On checking the bag, 10 kgs of Ganja containing two packets (5 kgs each) were recovered. The recovered Ganja was seized by OC of GRPS, Badarpur, and took the person under custody. Value to the recovered contraband goods was estimated INR 50,000 approximately.
