- DIPHU — The Forum
for Hills Autonomous State Movement (FHASM), a conglomeration of various
political organisations and social organisations, has suspended its proposed
24-hour Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao bandh on May 13.
- This was informed to media persons by the FHASM convenor,
James Hanse. The bandh was initially called to demand the immediate
implementation of Article 244(A) of the Indian Constitution, which pertains to
the creation of an autonomous state.
- “We have suspended the 24 hours Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao
bandh on May 13 due to the emergency of the nation. The decision was taken in
today’s meeting between the delegation of FHASM and chief executive member of
Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, Tuliram Ronghang, held at Taralangso. We will
call a bandh after the emergency of the nation, we cannot declare the day as of
now as we all know the nation declared its emergency last night and how long it
will take we can’t predict,” James Hanse said.

40 years but our demand has been denied,” he added.
- The general secretary of FHASM, Petor Tisso, informed that
Tuliram Ronghang has assured to lead the delegation to meet the Assam chief
minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, to discuss on the matter after normalcy is
restored.
- “If the team Karbi Anglong led by CEM Tuliram Ronghang fails
their assurance, we would resume the bandh again,” Tisso said.
