Dimapur, Oct. 13 (EMN): The Former Legislators Forum has urged the Naga representatives engaged in negotiations with government of India to ‘resolutely’ seek solution within the three-month deadline given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in August.

In a press release issued on Sunday, the forum stated that the negotiators should be “serious and focused than casual.”

“The time schedule set by GoI that within three months the negotiations have to be brought to its logical end implies that the GoI is committed. The Naga negotiators therefore must not miss this opportunity by inducting excuses but they are expected to be determinant.

“The Nagas in the past failed to seize the better situation to our advantage and due to which we had to suffer immeasurably. Such myopia must not be repeated this time around,” it stated.

According to the forum, whatever the negotiators may consider as issues of contention could be pursued post-solution “because of the fact that when such issues are allowed to form the stumbling block, the ultimate result will be regret only.”

It urged all the parties involved in the parleys to “be bold enough” to conclude the dialogue without any delay.
